October 2006
The main
story this month concerns our employees and
Woolworths.
We picked up a leaflet instore asking for casuals over the holiday
period. We called the recruitment bureau, but found them most
unsympathetic to the specific needs of Hout Bay. This led us to contact
the store manager directly and he agreed to view our candidates without
going through the recruitment bureau first. Then came the good
news! He decided they were so fabulous he would take them on as more
"permanent casuals", not just for the holiday period. Four members of
the WorkNow! team have been employed for 40 hours per week. A
second batch was sent for interviews. It would appear 6 out of the 7
have been accepted by Woolworths and (will be confirmed by mid
November). Last Friday we were called to send in more recruits for
the Christmas season – young schoolleavers looking for holiday work!
Fuad Cassiem, store manager of Woolworths is delighted with WorkNow! A
special bonus was paid out to all Woolworths employees on the occasion
of their 75th birthday – and our brand new month old recruits
received a wonderful R500 voucher from the store.
September 2006
WorkNow!
director Jeremy Rich took on Amen Malanda on a trial basis to paint for
him at home and was so impressed he employed him for a further 11 days.
Gene van
Rensburg has been using Michelle from WorkNow! twice a week as a
domestic worker. She has been particularly careful in choosing a full
time person and has been so happy with Michelle, she took her on full
time from the 1st October.
August 2006
Zodwa came to the WorkNow offices every day for 3 weeks
looking for work. Finally, we found her a day’s work as a domestic
cleaner. She made such a good impression she was then put forward for a
full time position, which she obtained. She will be working 5 days a
weeks from October. Zodwa is so thrilled to be working, and we at
WorkNow! are proud to add her name to our database of proven employees.
Samantha Uys has not worked for over a year. She is a
domestic worker, but loves children. We heard via the Hout Bay "bush
telegraph" that the local Montessori school was looking for a classroom
assistant. We put forward 2 candidates, including Samantha, who was
taken on full time 5 days a week.
Kim was
wanting a full time childminder and domestic worker for her twins. She
interviewed several of our candidates, took Sylvia for a trial day and
was so delighted she offered her the position there and then!
